Professional audio software
LABSICK EMPIRE designs and builds professional audio plugins — modeled from real circuits, measured against the classics and tested to studio standards before they ship.
Products
Every LABSICK EMPIRE plugin is a one-time purchase with free updates for life.
Available now · Creative multi-effect
Nineteen pedals and a brain. Describe a sound in words and BACKTAPE builds the whole chain — tape, delays, reverbs, pitch, a sample flipper and 3D space, all in motion.
$50 launch price · regular $80
In development · Synthesizer
A synthesizer with analog character, currently in development. It will be included free for every BACKTAPE owner.
Featured · BACKTAPE
Delays, reverbs, tape, pitch, saturation, granular and spatial processors — each one designed and measured on its own, then built to work together in a single rack.
Listen
Four loops through BACKTAPE factory presets, rendered with the release build. Switch between the dry signal and BACKTAPE while it plays.
Technology
Every LABSICK EMPIRE product runs on DSP we write ourselves, line by line, and test the same way.
Magnetic tape hysteresis, bucket-brigade delay lines and ladder filters solved with zero-delay feedback — the behaviour of the circuit, not a picture of it.
Every non-linear stage runs with antiderivative anti-aliasing and at least 4× oversampling, so drive stays clean at the top of the spectrum.
Each processor is measured against the classic it learns from — response, decay, modulation and noise — and then judged by ear on real music.
One fixed latency, reported to the host, whatever the preset. Your session stays in time when sounds change, even mid-playback.
Before release every build goes through a torture host — five sample rates, buffers from 1 to 4096 samples, hostile input and parallel instances — and pluginval at its strictest level.
VST3 and CLAP, 64-bit, from 44.1 to 192 kHz, in any modern DAW. macOS support is in development.
Company
LABSICK EMPIRE designs, models and builds audio software for music production. Every product follows the same process: a written specification, measurement against reference hardware and software, critical listening, and an automated test suite that must pass before anything ships.
We sell each product once. Licences are yours for life, with every update included.
Specification, then measurement, then sound. Nothing is approved on a hunch.
Products that are maintained, measured again and improved with every release.
One-time purchase, free updates, two computers, offline after activation.
